good metal for knife blades

What would be good metal for knife blades I heard truck leaf springs makes good one and I know files do anything else I am fixing to have a forge so it won't be hard for ne me heat treat it. I am just wanting to play with it and maybe get more into it later

I have also heard of people using saw blades.
