Wallace Rockwell Camillus 72 with Gold Lip Pearl

Post by jerryd6818 »

I've had this project in the works for a while now and it came home today. Gold Lip Pearl handles provided by Dale (orvet) and mounted by Wallace Rockwell. For those who don't know (I didn't) Wallace Rockwell worked in the custom shop for Camillus. I think he did a spectacular job.

This is what I sent to him.

This is what came back today.

Wow Jerry, Wallace did a spectacular job!
Too bad the gold lip MOP doesn't photograph better.
I know the handles have more color than is showing up on my monitor, but MOP is always hard to photograph.

Great addition to your collection! ::tu::

Thank you for the kind words gentlemen. You should see them in person.

Phil, I'm still just a humble accumulator of store bought stuff. :) Once in a while, I get lucky and my imagination wakes up long enough to spit something out.

And Dale -- Thank you very much for the pearl. This could have never happened without it.

Thanks guys. I took it outside to take the pictures and was able to capture some of the fire in the pearl but pictures just don't do it justice. Thanks again to Dale for donating the pearl. There would have been no knife without Dale's generosity and Wallace's skills.

Gary -- The secondaries are original to the knife but the main was short so it was replaced with an era correct NOS blade.

Edit: The only carrying these two safe queens will get is in one of these single pouches.

Never one to leave well enough alone, I sent the knife down to Damon Soileau to have the bolsters engraved. It came back today and I'm very pleased with Damon's work. The picture with the black background is Damon's picture. Engraving is as, if not more, difficult to photograph as the pearl.
