Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
Very nice jerry.
This has got to be one of my favorite Camillus made knives. It has a Craftsman tang stamp that was a Imperial pattern made by Camillus. Gdog has one also and he can tell you to they are just a good solid knife and a very cool set of blades.

This is amazing. I have a similar knife #14, but with totally different scales.jerryd6818 wrote:This little Camillus 14 Jack came today. About as close to factory fresh as you can get. Still has the factory grind on the blades and was probably made in the '70s since the handles are pinned. At 3-3/8" closed, it's a sweetie. It would make a perfect carry.

Two recent arrivals. Two different treatments of delrin both of which I think work very well.

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
I don't know. The Brown Delrin Stag Camillus put out in the '80s is pretty darned good. Get yourself one and see if you don't agree. In the end, I think it would come down to personal preference between it and Staglon®.

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
.........jerry, I've only got 1 Camillus from that time period, a #99 campknife with the double line tang stamp and it has a darker handle than the old staglon, and the jigging looks like a cross between the staglon and "regular" jigging.........is thet the type handle you are referring to????.........

....that's it, jerry, mine may be a little darker, but the biggest diff. is that the ends are not ground down to be flush with the bolsters, it's that darker color for the whole length of the handle!!!.....

That's a cool knife. Love me some CAMILLUS, and SWORD BRAND to boot. Love the spear blade with long pull. Don't know if I've ever seen that on that frame, but cool though

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
It seems to have been a Camillus week, picked all these up over the past few days. The last one is a #83 mini-stockman with all NS liners and some great jimping.
A #41 pen knife A #21 peanut A #72 carpenter and the aforementioned #83 The jury's still out as to the handles on the #83. Hard to believe they would have used Delrin/composite on this knife, but i'm not really seeing the signs of it being bone either.

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
I'm a fan of the #41s. Like the #69s, there's just something about them especially after you get one in your hand. Of course I always have something good to say about the #72s and that right there is a nice one.
The #83s were first an entry in the catalogs in 1957 (maybe 1956 but I don't have access to one of those) as part of their DeLuxe line (#69, #80, etc). The handles were listed as Brownstag® and I'm about 99% sure that was a synthetic material. I have/had a couple of #72s with Brownstag® handles and they are synthetic/composite. You can't read it in the picture but it's 2-5/8" closed. They were discontinued in the late '80s or early '90s.
Very good choices all around, I'd say.

Re: Show Us Your Camillus Knives!
Thanks, Jerry.
Wish the little 83 still had it's blade etch!
Pretty much across the board on this bunch then, all have composite handles of one type or another. But, they're all pretty decent examples, so i'm good with that!
Appreciate the info.
