Sheffield Exhibition Quality Folding Knives
The ultimate in quality made by the very finest spring cutlers England had to offer. These knives were made as exhibition knives to display what their cutlers could produce from a particular knife company.
The workmanship that went into these old knives is incredible!
These examples came up for sale recently on an online auction, pictures posted here for posterity.

Re: Sheffield Exhibition Quality Folding Knives
I saw those listings. Some very good knives in that auction. Also some fakes and rebuilds too as well as amateur cleaning jobs. The reserves were astronomical. Beautiful knives though.

Cleaned, reworked or not, I wouldn't know from Adam, but those, my friends, are some absolutely gorgeous pieces of pocket cutlery.
Thanks for posting those MB.
Those are the types of knives that float Dimitri's boat. I'm wondering if he managed to snag one out of that group.

Re: Sheffield Exhibition Quality Folding Knives
Those are fantastic!
Anyone who has one of those works of art in their collection is very fortunate. Sadly, this beat-up old Marsh Bros. is probably as close as I'll ever come to owning anything close to those beauties.

Beautiful knives! dcgm4, that one may be beat up but still has lot's of character. I like the way the pearl and bolsters are fluted to match.

Re: Sheffield Exhibition Quality Folding Knives
Thanks, Dan and Lee.
It certainly does have character as you've pointed out. I like to imagine that when it was in its heyday (brand new, blades and bolsters shiny, perfect mother-of-pearl) it must've been a real looker.
