Bazooka Joe Knife
Has anyone ever herd of a Bazooka Joe Bubble Gum give away, from the late 50's, that included a Utica Sportsman?
Thanks for your help

It was probably one of the prizes you could save up and send wrappers in for. Great find.

Keith I know they had a scout knife (camper style) give away. I have a copy of the ad and one of the knives. No pictures available at this time.

Phil & IH
I purchased the knife at a show a few weeks ago in a box (see below) with a great story.
In my research of the Bazooka Joe knives, I found the scout/camper but no offer for a fixed blade

Re: Bazooka Joe Knife
Well it took over a year but I was able to solve this mystery
Below are photos of a Bazooka Bubble Gum Prize Sheet from the 1950's that I was able to purchase.
As you can see they offered 3 different knives. A Sportsman Fixed Blade, Two-Bladed with Chain and a Bazooka Camp Knife.

Re: Bazooka Joe Knife
I do not know about the knife. I was born 1945. We had a knife with a black handle like that that we called a Toad Stabber. My brother may still have it? In 6th grade 1956-57 I read the little comics and saved the wrappers. They had a girls locket that I ordered. Maybe 10 cents. In school I gave it too Bunny McClairy. She showed it to a couple of girls and came over and said "I can not except this!" I said it was nothing special and so she kept it. And then she moved away. That's my story. We also bought the baseball cards and ate the gum and flipped the cards. Then I would use a clothes pin to clip a card too my bike fender and rode around making lots of noise. Who knew the might become collectible. We also found a couple of Falstaff cone top beer cans. Said they were neat and put them down. Who knew?

Re: Bazooka Joe Knife
Stumbled onto this old thread and thought I'd contribute by posting this old Camco Bazooka Joe knife, complete with ephemera and the box it was shipped in. Label on the box is postmarked 1966. It wasn't my knife originally but I was glad to find it.

The knives in this thread are awesome beyond words. I love stuff like this! I think having the knife AND the papers all together is a collector's dream!

Re: Bazooka Joe Knife
I chewed up a lot of Bazooka bubble gum but never had the cash or time to order a knife! Great find. Who knew they would become collectable in the 50's! Interesting stories also. Terry
