You know you live in a small town when....

A couple of days ago, I went into our little burg to pick up some milk and bread at the local mercantile. Down main street comes a riderless horse! All saddled up and dragging the reins....but no rider. A guy in a pickup truck stopped, got out and grabbed the reins, tied the borse up to a post at the store and drove off. A few minutes later, a somewhat sheepish looking, exasperated young woman came up, untied the horse, saddled up....AGAIN....and rode off.

Rural America. You gotta' love it!

I like it when some of the "boys" get whiskeyed up, go out to the stock trailer & ride the saddle horses back into the bar!

Then someone spills a drink & steel horseshoes & a wet wood floor can get pretty interesting

I have a friend that used to ride his horse to the local watering hole,it was a 10 mile ride.He never had to worry about getting home,the horse new the way.That is until the night that he rode his horse through the bar,after that he and his horse were no longer welcome.

You really know you live in a small town when both cars show up at the four way stop sign and cause a traffic jam.

Our town is so small, there are NO stop signs, traffic lights or designated parking places! True story. They finally put up a yield sign and the populace almost rioted! Letters to the editor were amazing in their outrage over a yield sign!

The town I live in is bigger, but the economy is SOOO bad.(how bad is it?) Thanks for asking. Bonham Police Dept. rounded up all the known prostitutes a while back. They had to let 8 of the 10 go, because they were still virgins.

I was raised in a town that was so small that both city limits signs were on the same post. A night on the town only took about 10 minutes. Why, one year, the New Years Baby was born in October.

hey, july fourth my wife and i drove southwest from weatherford to check out her new car. we passed thru towns that if not for the signs no one would know exist. ( except the people that live there)

we often travel the backroads for fun. she looks at scenery and i look for old hardware stores. texas is full of very small ranching/farming communities. so small that buying vittles is an all day trip.

we had a small ranch in xray, texas, a very old settlement near gordon, tx. if you broke or needed supplies or food, it was 40 min. of drive time. makes you plan ahead when you can. luckily the small town of mingus was only 20 min away. old cedar post town. one gas station, three liquor stores.

all the sportin houses are long gone

YUP PERS the Chicken Ranches are all gone.

Gee I miss the good old days.

When I am on a field trip with my school bus. I to check out the small town Ace and True Value stores...

All the good Schrade's are gone...

Fact is so are many old hardware stores gone.

When you can walk into the only bar next to the only feedstore with your dog. Without asking the bartender pours a glass for you and pours a bowl for your dog. You shoot the breeze, leave him a good tip and he'll put the tab on the foreman's bill.

Rural America is a lot of fun. I Love my hillbilly neighbors. Oh the story's that could be told. If you don't see cowboy boots and short pants on a daily basis during the wee hours of the morning, going to the mailbox,or just greeting the day then its just not a normal day. Of course the socks are up over the top of the boot. God bless them dear souls. Some of the hardest working people around. A true hillbilly don't need to go to town for parts. He or She can fix anything with pliers and baling wire. That is soooo true.
