Thank for posting those Eric.
I had them on my old computer, but seem to have lost them when I got my new computer about 3 years ago.
IIRC, it is a Russian chopper that was left in Afghanistan & some civilian contractors fixed it up & gave it a paint job.
Let's see the eagle eat Osama!

couple more photos
Hi:
I know most of you have seen such examples before, for those of you who have not though the U-2 is fifties and the SR-71 is sixties technology.
Hard to believe they could have come up with such stuff in the stone ages.
Should you wish to enlarge, they will go at least 300%.

That U-2 is even more impressive in person.
When flying around SE Asia, I had occasion to spend the night in Taipei, Taiwan. Before I left I saw one of those bad boys parked (briefly) in front of the hangar. They are a real monster, especially compared to the F-4, the birds I was around the most.

I took it to Sears Point Raceway on the Wednesday night races and ran a 10.19 ET on my first and only run. I did not have a scattershield and a couple other things. I ended up selling it and even the re-inforced frame was bent by then - those Mustangs.
Actually, I think I was to inexperienced to be driving that thing, selling was the best thing I could do.
But I sure wish I had one now, not to drive, but as a collector value, Carroll Shelby's toys are real pricey these days.

Well, actually Capt. Powers was carrying a Randall Model 8, Trout and Bird knife, when he was shot down on May 1, 1960.
After he got out of prison, a reporter asked him how high he was flying when he got shot down.... His reply, "Not high enough."
I guess that one's kinda like the Bowie - captured by the enemy, and won't ever be seen again.
