Re: Camillus George Washington
Forget the stamp. These knives were issued by multiple manufacturers to commemorate the birth of G. Washington in 1936. Sorry, 1932.

Multiple manufacturers? Who besides Camillus made the Geo Washington replica with the pearlized handles as shown in the photos?

They came in two sizes that I know of:the smaller by Camillus ans a larger version by B&B in 1932/Not sure who made knives for B&B but they sold a ton of promotional knives and letter openers.

Re: Camillus George Washington
B & B stood for Brown & Bigalow, St. Paul, MN. Colonial made a good many of their knives.
I was not aware that Camillus had made the G. Washington knives more than once, so pardon my admonition to ignore the stamp.
Robeson also made a version.
Left click on the photo, then again, to enlarge.
As you can see, I had the year date wrong in my display, as well.

Check here for a picture of the later Camillus knife, no comparison to the original.

Wow. I thought Camillus was the lone manufacturer of George Washington replica knives. Thanks.

Re: Camillus George Washington
I have searched the internet via a Google Image search, but have come up short.
Sometime in the past I've seen a photo of a grouping of these knives with the known makers represented. I cannot find it.
I think there were at least five knives in the photo.
So far, just through this discussion we have:
Camillus
Robeson
Brown & Bigalow
Winchester.
It's hard to imagine that Schrade or Remington would not have followed suit on this in 1932.

A quick search of Ebay today produced these matches.
Some are priced too high, some are low starting bid genuine auctions.
Both issues of the Camillus version are represented.
Two differently engraved Brown & Bigelow versions.
Condition varies from poor to mint.
In no particular order:

Re: Camillus George Washington
Some representative examples with different tang stamps, etc.
There are two Camillus knives here with the Camillus (under-lined) later stamp. One of them has handle pins, one does not.
Note the Brown & Bigelow knives are copyrighted 1931.
Most, if not all, the pics should expand.

Re: Camillus George Washington
I've owned one just like the one in the top picture of Charlie's last post for years. While I don't remember which book it was, one of them stated the value of that knife at $300. I've never seen one sell for anything close to that and always wondered why the "book price" was so high on them. Does anyone know?

Re: Camillus George Washington
I see the same thing with most knives, the book is why high unless it is a old old brand.
