Schrade hawbaker

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

I dont know exactly when schrade made these for hawbakers, but its a schrade cut co tang stap, so it dates pre 1946

Wow that's a beauty! I think the pattern came out sometime between 1934 and 1936. Here are a few photos; one's a catalog page from the 1936 catalog supplement marking the first appearance of the knife (the knife pictured is the same as the catalog model, a bit more pocket worn than your example! ::doh:: :D ), and the others are the original pattern masters of the hawbaker blades, dated 1934.
