My First Case Stag Review

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

My First Case Stag Review

Post by logantrky »

I just hand picked this Case 68135 Rancher's Series Jack Knife up from SMKW. It has an awesome snap with CV blades.

The finishing actually looks really good on this one. The stag is incredibly THICK on this thing. The brass pins look flush and the nickel bolsters line up nicely. I really like the looks of the long tail Case XX burnt into the stag handle. It really gives a cool "branded" look. The blades are not super sharp out of the box. I would rate them a 6 out of 10. I'll definitely be sharpening them once I get it home. I surprisingly like the branding on the blade as well I think it will add character once the blade gets some patina on it.

I'll update this review as I use the knife. It can serve as my Case Stag journal of sorts. Thanks for looking!

Thanks, Mike. I never knew what I was missing out on with stag! It's a beaut for sure. I had a bit of trouble picking between a think handle or a knife with a bit more character and design in the stag. But, I couldn't get over the thickness of this handle and I love it.

Nice looking knife. Also Case can do some innovative things with that laser engraver they have. Be careful- stags are addictive - you can't have just one! You'll soon be laying awake at night trying to think of an excuse to buy another one. ::tu::

Beautiful knife. I've always loved Stag knives - everybody should have one. I'm not a collector, just have always had a Case in my pocket. The pic looks like the Stag I carried for years, but my Grandson became obsessed with it, and I gave it to him. Now, at 70 yrs old, I'll never have another, but just seeing them brings back great memories. Beautiful.
