Schrade Walden-Adolphus Bush-Cloissne Bartenders Knife

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Schrade Walden-Adolphus Bush-Cloissne Bartenders Knife

Post by Schradenut »

I had been searching for what seemed an age, to find a really good SW, AB knife. They do come up from time to time, but usually show plenty of battle scars from being dropped. Not that long ago i came across one that is in pretty good condition. The Stanhope viewer even works.
I don't know a lot about it, other than it was made by SW for AB in 1952, which he handed out as gifts as he tried sell his wares around America.
If anybody can add to this story, then i would be most grateful to enhance my limited knowledge.
Tony.

The knife is a beauty Tony and very rare, especially in such nice condition and with the Stanhope viewer working! ::tu:: ::tu::

I have often pondered why Adolphus had a picture of himself in the Stanhope viewer?
Today we would expect a pretty girl in something like that, because Madison Ave long ago discovered that sex sells almost anything.

I wonder if Adolphus just had a big ego? ::shrug::

I think I need coffee. it is too early in the morning to be pondering abstract ideas.
I think I should stick to fixing knives.

I have one of these, I found that the corkscrews on these later models were very soft and will bend very easily. They are pretty to look at but I don`t think they were made to use ::shrug::
