There must have been a big price rise or a few beginners on ebay.
The normal price is from $90 to $150.

Hi Grant, I have sold them two or three years-a-go, in Australia.
As you say, most of the time they sell for under US$150.
I found an unfinished one on eBay, back in 2005 for US$12.
I think you can still buy the unfinished ones on eBay for US$34.
I found the sun makes the box turn colour to a very dark brown; and some of the bone handles do not look too good.
I bourt and sold about six of them, before I found one that had not meen played with. (MINT as a coin)
I just looked at the one that sold in September; IT'S THE SAME KNIFE #1626... DUBLE THE PRICE...
LOOK AT THIS ONE TOO..Ken.

Even this 53OTG sold for top money...

Ken the 53OT and 55OT you might not get past customs these days.Seeing they have a thumbscrew they now class them as a one hand opening knife.I don't know when the changed the rules but I had a knife seized (One out of a lot of four ,it was about 80mm closed about the size of a 34OT) because it could open it with one hand using the thumbscrew ("being good suspected on reasonable grounds to be a special forfeited goods").
Being a six dollar knife it's not worth putting in a claim.
