I think there was a lot of cigar boxes sold when Schrade closed and purchased by Taylor and knives added later.
I have a 100th anniversary truck with a China made knife with the 100th Anniversary etch on the blade.The knife is the same as the Taylor China made Schrade.
I cannot see anything wrong with knives made in the USA carrying the Schrade name .
Most of the USA knife makers at sometime had knife made for them when they could not fill a contract .It was just good business practice to keep the customer happy.

I too have seen the cigar boxes with odd knives in them. I didn't know if the boxes were reproductions by Taylor or leftovers from Ellenville. But I know that a few that I've seen didn't have the right knives for the cigar box they were displayed in. Some are obvious Taylor knives in the box. Taylor makes a great effort to come up with copycat Schrade stuff, even some of the real old Schrade knives and boxes. I've even spotted Taylor pruning and sampler knives. And you can't count on the box being legit just because it says, 'made in the USA', either. I can't say if Taylor is selling the 100th anniversary pickups but I have seen alot of them for sale that don't have the original knives in them that Ellenville put in them. Most of the time I see them with the knife is missing. I used to have a red one that came without a knife and I built a sawbuck out of small wooden dowel and placed a 34OT anniversary knife on the sawbuck in the back of the truck. Not original, but cool anyway.
