Queen #19a with upside down tang stamp
Can anyone give me any information about this knife. i picked this up at a local shop a few day ago. when i got it home i noticed the tang stamp was upside down. is this typical with these or do i have something special? what is the "a" represent on the model number? how much is something like this worth?

tupperprint,
Wish I could supply the answers, but I'm about up the creek when it comes Queen information. I love the old Queen knives and even the new ones. My favorite deer knife is an old Queen #39 with handles similar to what is showing on your trapper. My are made of delrin. The tang stamp on yours indicates it was made, as the tang stamp chart says "About 1973-1975".
Now concerning it being an up side down stamp, I don't know if it is something special or just "a late Friday afternoon job". Recently there has been some discussion concerning a couple of Case 6111's that have an extra "1" in the stamp making them a desirable collector's item. Not sure if the Queen knives with unusual stamps are valuable to "real" Queen collectors, seems logical. Maybe one of our Queen specialists will come by with some more concrete information.
If that one was mine, she'd be ridin' around in my RFP on a regular schedule

Re: Queen #19a with upside down tang stamp
thanks Treefarmer for the input. i was hoping someone could tell me something about the tang. this previous saturday a fellow said to me "if you get a queen trapper with a winterbottom handle i'll buy it from you." on my way home from the swapmeet i stopped by a local shop and just happened to see this one. i picked it up thinking i'd take it to him this weekend. wasn't until i got home that i noticed the tang stamp. now i cant decide whether to keep it or pass it on to him. i never was really into queen knives and usually just sold everyone i came acorss, but recently i got my hands on a very nice #39 myself, and since i collect hunters i figured this one was a keeper.

Check out this thread for the tang stamps. http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... =4&t=39799
I don't see a Queen stamp that is upside down?
Hopefully someone in the know will chime in.
