I found my Every Day User back in 1973; it was a Schrade 881.
Since then I have collected many Schrade 4" knives.
The "FIRST" 8OT Old Timer has always been a must have, for my collection. However, what was the first 8OT and when was it made.
Why did the early 8OT have a different "Old Timer shield" with jimping on the rear brass liners?
Did they come in a wooden box? How lone did they make them? Where did they all go?
Please not: The top two photos are one knife. The next two photos are another knife.

Ken, here's my only example: It's definitely seen a lot of use, as you can see the sawcuts are worn right off! It's original, from a gentleman in Texas who always put it back in its box when not in use
The box is missing the paper insert that was affixed to the inside top, but all else is original. The knife sits on the original faux woodgrain carboard insert that's cut out to the shape of the handle.
