Looking for an EDC that is similar to Chris Reeves but a bit

Hi all,

I normally don't post much but definitely like the advice & opinions on this board!

Granted, everyone has their own personal preferences but I want to pick your brains/opinions.

I'm an old school folder type EDC (GEC's, etc). I typically like a higher quality knife and am willing to pay for quality. But I'm wanting to break out and try something different. Basically I want a Chris Reeves Small Sabenza 21....but honestly if my wife finds out I paid that much for a "pocket knife" she'll likely use it to murder me!

Before I take my chances, and sleep with one open, I want to see if there is another knife out there that is similar.

any suggestions? Or do I bite the bullet and get the small Sabenza 21??

Try looking up the Emerson Mini Commander,it's a real heavy bladed user that you can do just about anything with.you can pick one up for about 165-185 depending....just look on the bay

So i'm looking for a compact, sturdy/rugged for EDC, a folder that is small/discreet (for the office)…and ultimately has a similar look & feel….BUT is more reasonably priced.

Suggestions?

I carry this one with me daily,I think their is one on eBay now for 129.00.this is one nice heavy duty knife.you won't regret if you get one.....good luck

I've always been a fan of the Benchmade Shoki. Blade length is 2.89" and made from M390 steel, which I like better than S35VN. Plus it has durable carbon fiber scales. In my experience, titanium will get scratches over time. It's also a slim knife that doesn't show much in the pocket. Unfortunately it's discontinued, so you'll probably have some difficulty finding one.

If you're okay with a smaller knife take a look at the Benchmade Megumi. The blade is 2.48" and made from S30V. Also they cost under $200 on most websites.

Also check out Kizer Cutlery knives. They use high-end materials like CPM-S35VN and titanium handles. They're also relatively inexpensive (compared to Reeves, Emersons, Hinderers and the like) because they are manufactured in China. Don't let the fact that they're China-made fool you. These are excellent quality knives at an affordable price. Here's a link that shows some of the knives they have with blades about 3" or less. They have a lot more knives, but the blades are longer.

Not a "Chinese" guy,but bought a Sanremu 710(sp). About $20, dead copy of CRK pattern, small. Stls. handels, little heavy, but sharp and seems to hold edge very well. Taz

The Sanremu 7010 is said to be a copy of the Chris Reeve Small Sebenza 21. They're about $15. I have one, and use it quite a bit when I don't think carrying a nicer folder is a good idea. At $15, it's a better knife than imports twice its cost, but it's still not as good as my Japan/USA Spyderco, Kershaw, Benchmade, Buck, etc.

Titanium handled and S30V (I think that's what they developed and use on all their knives), everything fitted together perfectly. You get what you pay for. There are knockoffs but they cannot be of this quality.

It depends on what makes you happy. I'm a Hinderer guy.
