Back in 1962-63 Schrade advertised their 8OTs, and said they had Meerschaum Bone handles.
Has anyone ever seen Meerschaum Bone handles on a knife?
CAN ANY ONE TELL ME ABOUT MEERSCHAUM BONE.

Ken, that was just a name Uncle Henry coined for the sawcut delrin handles. They reminded him of some of the meerschaum pipes he'd seen. I think he just liked the word since the color isn't really all that similar.

Thank You Eric for your reply.
There is a big unknown gap in the history of the Schrade 8OTs, between 1960 and about 1963.
In that time we see different handle materials, different shields, different match-strike.
There is also the longer swage. Why a long swage for 3 or 4 years and a shorter swage for the next 45 years?
I have seen Black handled 8OTs I think, were made about the same time.
All Questions I can not find answers too.
