Surely Dennis . .
Now lets see... yer likely to young to remember
and old football Coach named Bum Phillips..
Well he always had an unexpected trick play
named the BUM-a-rooskie.............
Hence this aquisition tecnique named
for the developer and field tester
and perfector > Blister-rooskie.
A quick negotiation process whereby the "buyer"
presents the "seller" of the auction with an offer to
sell it immediately to him. Hopefully at a lesser price
than it would fetch if the auction were allowed to run to maturity.
Now the"Front loading baby buggy 505-K technique"
is but one of 100's employed by myself for the
above mentioned aquisition. This particular one
is comprised a first contact pointing out the good and the flaws of the knife.
Once the seller has seen both he may (hopefully) be interested in an offer.
Under what the rooskie-er may feel is the postential value..
There are many other techniques in the manual
that are employed predicated on varying circumstance
of transaction. Hope this data will be as useful
as it is entertaining.. Best of luck on yer "first rooskie"'

Of course, how could I not recognize that?
When someone from Texas uses Bum in a sentence what else could it be.
I'm hittin' the flea market tomorrow and I do believe I'll try out a Blister-rooskie.

Bug
Now (until yer experienced) DONT even try the
Ernie Kovak 291-Ga .. . . ..
The combo of Sal Hepatica, panty hose, a vadalia onion,
wasp spray, and Diet Dew can be
fatal in the hands of the untrained rooskie-er..
However Edie Adams seems to like it ...

Blades are down a bit but I guess it was worth $45.

Lots of the budding knives had a real Ivory blade on the back end. Not sure why? Can't tell if yours is ivory or metal?

Re: Any REM Whales swimmin by??
I too have wondered about the "rooskie" term but I think understand now.
You somehow convince the unwitting seller that his knife is worth less than it actually is.
You then make a supposed generous but actually lowball offer for the knife.
The seller then relists the knife for you in a "buy-it-now" price format that is less than it would most likely bring if the seller were to let the auction run to maturity.
When the seller relists the knife and you quickly do the "rooskie" buy-it-now and you have bought the knife for a great bargain price.
I've bought many fine knives on eBay at good prices but never tried this technique.
Here is a picture of an R1405 knife that I have had for many years. Bought it before eBay ever came around. Same knife as in the OP with a different handle material. Black Pyremite handles and bone grafting spud.

If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.
