I saved her Dog with a Knife but will she be happy??

Oh dear, my wife went away for a few days and this is the result!! Her dog got caught in the lace behind the curtain and then instead of the Dog sitting still and waiting for help it made things worse by turning around and around and got the curtain stuck in the lace. By the time I arrived the dog had twisted the curtain so tightly it had suspended its back legs off the floor and was yelping when I went near it to help.

I knew that I was in danger of the Dog bitting me if I bent down to free it with my hands so I had no alternative I looked for the largest knife I could find (no not to kill the dog) much to the dread of our kids who didnt understand what was happpening with all the yelping and me running with a knife.

I used the knife to cut a large peice out of the curtain to free the Dog and a large enough peice so that I kept my hands away from the yelping Dog while I did it.

Sadly this is what is left of our $600 curtains, Im pleased I had the chance to use one of my knives to save the dog but now how will I explain this gap in the curtain??? The Dog now doesnt seem bothered by the incident at all.

That cat is obviously the guilty party. A hidden camera would have shown its involvement in the whole fiasco; but in the absence of one you will just have to take my word that it is a quite genius.

I understand your plight exactly in the prison system we were allowed to carry a small knife ( sometimes the definition of small was a bit nebulous ). However its purpose (among several reasons) was justified so that if an inmate was found er hanging around ( much like your pup ). He could be cut down. I having found myself in such a position I often had to pause and consider if I wanted to ruin a perfectly good sheet or rope by cutting it. A quandry I sometimes would ponder quite a while depending often upon the type of attitude and even crime of the individual. Baby rapers sometimes took a while often in order to save the sheet you could also pull the hanging partys feet or legs to try to dislodge the rope or sheet.

Looking at your picture I have several questions. First what is wrong with leaving the curtain as is ? I live alone and my house keeping is that of a bachelor frankly it looks fine to me and the cut part can be used as a dish towel or similar. In fact I would even it out and cut the other one the same. That reminds me I have to vacuum this month ( watching the leaves fall always reminds me it is that time of year to vacuum again.) I have been told that I am a bit remiss in my housekeeping.

I do dust all the knife displays fairly often. Another question I have is why would you spend 600 dollars for curtains. I mean do you realize how many knives can be purchased for 600 dollars. An old sheet or towel will keep out the light just as well . Oh well I guess that is why I am single. LT PS Nice even cut must have been a sharp knife.

I agree.. Play the hero. After all you saved Her dog and prevented the kids from a real traumatic situation. Besides the cat now has a great story to tell. $600 does seem a bit much for a pair of curtains, but wives tend to get exactly what they want....

Didn't something like this happen in Silence of the lambs when Hannable Lecter convinced the guy in the next cell to hang himself. Make sure that puddy gets plenty of friskies you do not want it angry at anyone. Actually just forking over the 600 really does seem like the easiest solution. LT

Yes I think your right !! The $600 dollars is probably the easiest solution and quite a few kisses as well.

The thing is Im sure she wont want the $600 dollars just the kisses so Im very lucky.

We are putting the house on the market in less than one month so what do you think the new owners will say the first time they pull the curtains???

There will only be a small budget for knives now as we have plans to build a new house (with new curtains).

I have told her many of your comments and it did cheer her up so thanks all you did a great Job with the suggestions.

Did anyone see where that knife went??
