Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

model number? Its a nice little senator that I've had for a little while. One of the tang stamp charts says 1917 to 1946. Any info would be great.

I happened to be going to Albany, NY last week and went thru Ellenville on 209N. The factory looks like a deserted property. Maybe a few businesses in there. Timing was off. Got to Canal Street just in time to see them leaving.

Maybe a 2424?. If so, it's listed as being 3 1/8" long.

Here is a cut from a repro of the old catalog which describes your knife. The company did not normally put pattern numbers on their knives until it was sold in late 1946. The new company was then stamped Schrade Walden, NY. A little later they started adding USA to the stamp.
