I'm pretty sure I'm correct in saying that Pyremite is what Remington called their celluloid. I've had a few Remingtons with celluloid (premite) scales for years and have never had a problem but I do check them every few months just in case. That's a good looking knife and appears to have no problems. Probably will outlast both of us.___Dave

Remington Pyremite outgasses just like the other celluloid. The lighter clearer handles seem to be the worst. Like the tortoise shell. Many of those have blown up or turned brown. Black and other darker colors and the ones like yours seem to hold up better.
