Decided to Nordic (XC) ski to Old Town Alexandria from my place at Landmark yesterday. Left at 9:00, got back at 5:30 so it was a full day. Took some pictures along the way including 1 of my skis in front of the Courthouse where I work. Lots of snow removal action going on. Turned out to be over a 10 mile round trip but I managed to have a nice lunch and do some sightseeing between trips. Off today, the City is closed. We'll see what tomorrow brings- going Alpine skiing at a local resort if we're off again.

We are at 5 degrees with 25 MPH winds. I've been poking my nose out the door every once in a while trying to decide if I want to try to work today. It's suppose to drop below zero through-out the week down to minus 15 by Thursday. I sure have been getting wimpy as I've gotten older. I might lose my "Jack Pine Savage" status if I'm not careful. ____Dave

Wow John. I've been wandering where all our snow went to this year. We have about a foot on the ground which is about enough to keep our septics from freezing but it's been cold. We have -20 actual temp. right now but it's pretty calm so it's not bad. Suppose to be 50 degrees warmer (around 30 degrees for all you "kids" reading that studied new math) early next week.___Dave

Managed to get in Day 5 of Nordic skiing around the 'hood this morning. Could have used a couple more inches of cover but supposedly the snow will change over to rain later tonight. Gotta get the goods while you can!

Can i have some of that snow...please.

I have a forecast tomorrow of 41c, which is 106F. Us old codgers will have to find a nice cool rock to nestle under.

Spent last night in the path of tornados just north of Pensacola at my sister's home. Had mattresses and interior space picked out. Flashlights, etc at the ready.

The tornado stayed about five miles South of us.

Torrential sideways rain and some hail.

54 degrees and very windy this AM.

Rainy and cool here for 3rd day in a row. Too muddy to work outside much so been confined to the shop servicing tractors. At least there's Spring Training baseball on the radio. ::tu:: Need to be working on income taxes but ::barf:: .

Winter is going out fighting here in Western MD. The ground is completely thawed, has been in the 70s most of the last 2 weeks, so I don't expect much total accumulation. Still could get 4-6" through Monday morning. What did that groundhog predict? ::shrug:: ::poke::

Took ol' Willis on an ATV ride to the top of our property to see the snow. That's my non-knife collecting bro on the green Honda. Pretty Spring snow that only accumulated at higher elevation. Willis has been riding ATVs since he was a pup. Haystack Mt. in the last pic, just South West of Cumberland.

Took a few pictures of the results of our Florida weather this afternoon. We've had 9.4" inches since Thursday evening. We planted 14 rows of red field corn and 2 rows of yellow straight neck squash Thursday morning. I feel sure the seed will rot rather than germinate and most of the fertilizer will be leached out of the soil by the time we can get a tractor back in the garden and field.
A few pictures to show what it looks like in LA. The last picture shows the west side or back side of the last rain storm of the day, the 1st blue sky in several days. Spotted a dove on the power line and thought about the Bible account of Noah releasing the dove after the flood.

1967redrider,
You're right about the crawdads. My wife took this picture of one coming up our road and down at the culvert where the branch crosses the road there were 100's of crawdads, all sizes. The pictures we took there didn't show clearly because of the glare. I'd never seen so many at one time! Sure was a lot of fish bait, lots were big enough to eat.
Treefarmer
edit: We were spared the rain today, it only showered a couple of times with the heavier stuff being up in Alabama and points north! ::pray::

Beautiful country Redrider. Phil I sure hope you get some dry weather before you guys start thinking about loading those crawdads into an arc and floating away. We had a pet crawdad when we were in SD in the Air Force. We hand fed it and kept it in a fish tank with a few goldfish. All of them would take food out of our hands. He swam away in the Rapid City flood in 1972 (we almost did too). ___Dave
