QUEEN GAMEKEEPER VALUES ???

The Queen Cutlery Company manufactured knives in Titusville Pennsylvania for 96 years. The company opened its only factory there in 1919 and commenced to make some of the best US crafted cutlery you will find. Unfortunately, the Titusville manufacturing plant closed down in 2018.

QUEEN GAMEKEEPER VALUES ???

Post by jmam7516 »

I recently have seen several knives on the secondary market from Queen Cutlery. These knives are new to me. They seem to be vintage pieces called GAMEKEEPER. I have seen 2 fixed models and more recently a folder. They have black micarta handles. Does anyone have knowledge as to what era these knives are from and what value do they hold. The prices I have seen has been widely varying. Thanks, John

These were a very innovative set from Queen, with Higher quality materials, heavy blades, and the black leather sheaths that wrap around the handle. Very nice knives IMO (although the #399 folding skinner is a very unusual shape) to compete with familar Buck hunting knives. The big moose skinner model looks just like the knife Queen used in their tang stamps with the Knife through the "Q." This is often the one you see with some very high price, though some of the others are much harder to find. Queen Historical documents papge, under "catalogs" and "series Reports" gives a pretty complete listing of the production history of all the knives this series, including the folders which are rarely seen but especially nice..

Depends on condition...Many of these Gamekeepers did not get heavy use and are in very nice shape compared to everyday jacks of the same age that have been used hard. You do not see too many of the lockblade skinner- many more fixed blades and traditional folders were sold in this series. And it IS a very unusual looking knife -- close to rare IMO, I do not think you paid too much. I'm in same ballpark
