AN ONGOING COLLECTION with an explanation

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Thanks for all the nice comments, they really put the icing on the cake.
I have a hard time trusting someone who doesn't like dogs...but if my dog doesn't like someone, I'll trust that.

I have just read this thread and i am so impressed by your dedication and cabinet making ability.
This must have been a multi-year project from first white bone handled H.W. Schrade to placing the display into the cabinet. It must have taken much determination & dedication to see this through, and that is in addition to the 100's of hours of work.
Congratulations on The Best knife display i have ever seen.

Jerry and Joe, thanks for the good words. It was a lot of work and I watched a lot of other knives go by that I'd have liked to buy. I understand now, that we are only the caretakers of these fine knives we collect. I intend that the center section of the display, the white bones, never be broken up. When I am done taking care of them, they will be given to a local VFW to display intact. American made knives, with American steel, to be enjoyed by the Americans that have given so much to keep us free.
