Two Queens from the closet

The Queen Cutlery Company manufactured knives in Titusville Pennsylvania for 96 years. The company opened its only factory there in 1919 and commenced to make some of the best US crafted cutlery you will find. Unfortunately, the Titusville manufacturing plant closed down in 2018.

Two Queens from the closet

Post by mgdelpriore »

Here are a couple that I found on my journeys. First is a Queen City Barlow, saw cut bone, tang stamped... Queen City. Second is a pen, jigged bone, stamped with a sideways Q with a crown above it. Mike.

Nice finds...Curious about the how? and where? Pawn shop? Yard sale? Glovebox or trunk (boot) of an old car, perhaps? Inquiring minds want to know.

Cheers,

Q, most of my older stuff comes from yard sales, pawn shops or antique shops. I'm old school, and I really enjoy going out on the hunt. Like Forrest gump says, " you never know what you'll get". Can you tell me anything more about these knives? how old are they? thanks, Mike

Just like carrmillus said, "I like those 2!!! ::tu:: " From the Queen tang stamp charts that are available here on the forum, I believe the Barlow shows a 1922-1942 stamp and the equal end pen knife probably is a 1945-1955.
Old knives are just plain hard to beat!

Looks like I found another one hiding in the closet! Slim trapper, stag, sideways Q with crown on top tang stamp. Sorry about second picture, tried to take that one indoors. Mike.
