Where Can I Find info on how to Replace Blade on 5OT?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

Where Can I Find info on how to Replace Blade on 5OT?

Post by bamacrazy »

The 5OT is one of my favorite pocket knives. I carry one of these more than any other knife. I have 4 of these with a green handle. My favorite has a carbon blade and it has been sharpened down to a nub! I bought a 5 ot with a broke back spring in hopes of using its blade for a replacement blade. Now I'm trying to find out how to take it apart without damaging it. Any suggestions?

Here's my suggestion:

1. If you're trying to do it yourself, go to "You Tube" and type in "Muskrat Man Knives". He has several good
videos on how to repair broken knives. You might be able to find some information there.

2. If you don't mind sending it out for repair, contact "Muskrat Man" here on this site. And yes it's the same guy.
You can go to his store right here on this website, and contact him from there. At the top of his store page,
there's an icon you can click that says "Contact Me". I'm fairly certain he's certified by Schrade to repair their
knives and I know from first hand experience he's very good. Hope this helps.
