Thomas Turner & Son nice Horseman knife

This is one that I found recently.
It’s a nice Thomas Turner & Son Sheffield England “Encore” horseman knife with all its bits and no broken blades. Its 6 .5” open and 4” closed I would like to know the purpose of the hole at the bolster where the blades hinge(is that the right terminology?)

It might be a customizing for a type of lanyard hole, I would have supposed it on the opposite end from the factory.?? Two intriguing knives.

I would concur that it might have been to install a bail. The other end having the tweezers and splinter remover would prelude installing a bail on that end.Nice knife!

I’m not sure if there’s enough room for a bail and I suspect a lanyard would be severed as soon as the knife blade was opened. It could of course be as simple as an eye to hang it with. Whoever drilled the hole has done it with some skill that’s for sure.

Beautiful knife in great shape Gerry ... As said that drilled hole was done very cleanly and skillfully which makes it hard to tell if it came from the factory with it... never seen one with that drilled hole before but thats just my limited experience seeing these compared to many other folks...
