14OT HELP NEEDED

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

14OT HELP NEEDED

Post by dweb1897 »

I have never seen a 14ot without a guard, and I have no idea who or what WALKER is. Any info on this knife would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I know they are legit Schrades.
It is my understanding some were sold that way.
I think Cal may know something about these. IIRC, he was the one who told me about it.

I think they are just unfinished knives from the end-of-days assembly scenario. This is a guess. There are quite a few around.

It is an authentic Schrade SFO done for Walker Mufflers. They wanted a knife to give away and didn't want to spend a lot of money, and this is what they came up with. I will do a little more research and see if I can remember the years and possibly quantities done.

I'm going to call this one Beauty and the Beast. The thumb ramp was placed further back than normal for more control when skinning.
