There was 2 movies released 6 months apart, both featured Wyatt Earp.

Ah, then here is a great question for us Wyatt Earp fans. Which movie was better.

Kevin Costner as Wyatt Earp in the movie Wyatt Earp or

Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp in the movie Tombstone?

Definitely Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp....but, not to slight Kevin Kostner, he played a great part in "Dances with Wolves".

The Kurt Russell Version. But I found the real star to be Val Kilmar. What a Doc Holliday he made.

I liked both movies and would give both Kurt and Kevin an equal grade. The real difference to me was Val Kilmer. I believe he is a 'space cadet' but he was really good in that role.

The nudge goes to Tombstone. Kilmer sequence with cup was fantastic.
Have enjoyed Dana Delaney since China Beach.

Yeah Val Kilmer was great. Sam Elliott did a good job as Virgil too. The whole cast was very good.

Yep. TOMBSTONE was better. I enjoyed it almost as much as Eastwoods UNFORGIVEN.

I voted for "Tombstone." For me it's a no brainer! Russell and Kilmer

were great together.

Costners, Earp was Great also but the Movie

was to long and the pace dragged in some places.

You know, I liked both movies and gave a heads up to Tombstone. I watch BOTH everytime they are on. With Sam Elliott, how can a cowboy movie be bad. I think he was born to play these westerns, he fits so well. I have to agree and admit some surprise that val kilmer had such an impact on the movie. I'd like to see a movie about Doc Holliday, there is a lot of potential having a movie him.

I am really surprised that it turned out so lopsided. Just proves how right we were.

The first (rumored) definition is that it is a slang term derived from a rather rural unit if measurement. A Huckleberry tree stood a bit taller than a Persimmon tree or others that grew in the same area. Also being more desirable, the term huckleberry came to mean "just a bit better". Doc might have meant it to mean "I'm sure I can take ya".

The second is that "Huckleberry", as used it Tombstone, is a mispronunciation of a southern term "Huckle Bearer". A Huckle (as defined in most on-line dictionaries) is a type of hook, or something protruding from the hip. Again rumored or a bit of creativity, in the south a "huckle" was also a handle on a casket. Possibly being looking hook shaped to some, and the fact that a casket is carried with the handles about hip-high there might be some accuracy in this one. A Hucklebearer would then be a Pallbearer.

If the second is correct, then Doc was telling Ringo that he would take him to his grave - in a manner of speaking.

He also threatens to kill Ringo in the Oriental. During the exchange of Latin terms, Doc finishes with "requiéscat in pāce" which is the origin of the term Rest In Peace". The way (IMO) Doc meant it was "Hey. Its your funeral".

Tombstone was the best by far. Val Kilmer should have gotten an award for his role in the movie. WHERE IS HE? Doc-> He's down by the creek, probably walking on water. Why do you do this Doc? Doc-> Wyatt's my friend. He!!, I got lots of friends. Doc-> I Don't. and the best quote for last by Doc--> I think the strain was more than his heart could stand.

It sure does, when my 49er's start playing like (BLEEP) I may go rent it.

Of course, somehow, they are looking pretty good against Arizona. I think they are both 2-8 looks like fooball is on the agenda.

I think Tombstone is an Excellent movie, Wyatt Earp is a good movie, just a step below Tombstone. Like them both, but Tombstone is a much better movie and full of plots and subplots.

Next poll might be closer between Tombstone and OK Corral
w/ Lancaster & Douglas in two main roles.
Of course it's harder to compare two movies separated by
40 yrs & the differences that span represents in changes to
studio system & alleged evolution of our culture.
One sequence in the lancaster version that leaves me tickled when I see it now is when Wyatt is showing someone his new custom made long barrel revolver when a noisey ruckus outside draws their attention.
Wyatt lays the revolver down on his desk, and goes outside to see what is going on. I guess you could do that back in 1800s (or 1960) & your gun still be there when you got back. lol
I have to agree, Val Kilmer's interpretation for Doc was a standout performance & definitely added to the enjoyment of the movie. Stacy Keach seemed to have fun with his role too.
