Fixed blade knives

I understand that this is a pocket knife site and this may be off topic, but I will post it anyway and hope the monitor is lenient. The follow images are from a fixed blade knife. The logo is not as found in Knife magazine chart so, I am wondering if it is counterfit. Do those logos only apply to folding knives or do they include fixed blade knives. This knife appears to be very old.

The 172UH was first listed in the 1971 Schrade Walden catalog.
Your 172UH has exactly the same tang stamp as my 172UH.

In June of 1973 Schrade Walden changed their name, it and the name on their tang stamps, from Schrade Walden to Schrade.
Your knife was made prior to June 1973, so it is pretty old, between 43 and 45 years.

Please post a picture of your whole knife. I am curious to see if the handles are the same as mine.

I think that is the lowest serial number I have seen other than 0000 on some "prototype" knives that were floating around after the Schrade auction.

First let me apologise for the delay in replying to Orvet's reponse to my initial post. A couple of things; I am fast approaching 89 years on this hunk of dirt so I don't react or respond as quickly as I once did. Secondly, when I posted those photos , I didn't own that knife - was negotiating for it. I am not that knowledgeable about knives since this is a relatively new hobby. Yeah, I know - new at 89, but you have to do something or you become a lump, and I don't move fast enough to chase women anymore. About the knife. It looked really old - [image][/image] discoloration, so[image][/image]me scratches and a bit of rust, but that serial number caught my attention, so I bought it.[image][ I attempted to attach an image as Orvet requested but I seem to be too dense to figure out the correct procedure. Sorry.

I would like to echo the WELCOME to AAPK and especially the Schrade Thread! It is great to see pictures of these treasures and I want thank you for posting the pictures. I am an Avid Schrade Collector, in fact 95% of my collection is Schrade USA (2500 +) and I have even been fortunate to add some of the Schrade Factory Collection knives into my gathering.

Again, Welcome to AAPK and PLEASE, stick around, a lot of knowledgeable folks here and a lot to learn.
