1959 Camillus catalog pages

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

1959 Camillus catalog pages

Post by orvet »

I picked up some 1959 Camillus catalog pages recently off ebay,
I thought some of the "Camillus Guys" here on AAPK would enjoy them.

You will probably note the knives out of order numerically from the other knives.
These are the DeLuxe knives with the jimping on the liners and bone handles.

After seeing this page, I am inclined to think Brownstag® may have been the name Camillus used for jigged bone handles, just as some companies called jigged bone "bone stag."
If you have examples of Camillus DeLuxe knives, post some pics and let us know whether the handles are composite or bone.

Dale, thanks for the pages. I'm of the mind that Brownstag® is that brown synthetic Camillus used from the mid '50s until up into the '60s when Delrin® took over. It shrank a little (not much) but other than that, it was good handle material.
