8OT 1st year
I've got this one coming in tomorrow. It's allegedly a 1st year 8OT. It does have the 8OT stamped on the rear of that master blade tang. Match striker nail pull.... I'll post better pics after it arrives.

Re: 8OT 1st year
If it is the first of 8OT it would have bone handles.

Re: 8OT 1st year
OK, so this one is likely NOT a 1st year but a pre-'73. Correct?

Pre 1973 Schrade Walden with matchstick pull.
There was a few Schrade NY USA 8OT knives made with matchstick pull.

What are the 2 knives in the center? Are they both Schrade? They look very nice.

Re: 8OT 1st year
First off.... the 8OT is delrin, so not 1st year. Period! It is pre-'73. It does have the model # on the back of the tang. Picture attached with tang stamp.XX Case XX wrote:What are the 2 knives in the center? Are they both Schrade? They look very nice.![]()

One of the 2 in the middle is a '46 - '50s Stockman serp 895, bone scales... well used but a nice knife!! more pictures attached....
The other one in the middle does not have a model stamp on the tang, or anywhere!! but has a tang stamp that indicates pre-'73. It is 3-9/16" in length, blades are: clip, sheepsfoot and Spey. The blades are polished to a mirror finish and the back of the knife is milled... you'd think... 825SS Western Slim Premium... But there is no shield and no mention of Stainless. I'm sort of stumped.
What do you all think?!?

Re: 8OT 1st year
Your newer looking "Schrade-Walden" Slim Stockman is i believe, newer. Schrade did a few runs in early 2000 (?) of bone handles knives branded "Schrade Walden". I think yours is one of these.
There are also bone handled knives branded "Schrade Walden" that were made after Schrade USA closed in 2004. They were made for Mr. Taylor the new owner of the Schrade branding, by Camillus i believe.

Re: 8OT 1st year
I agree. Also, look out for "Schrade Walden" stamped folders with only a middle rocker pin for the springs, but no other pins for the 'scales' or handles or covers. These were made for Taylor, post-bankruptcy, by Bear and Son. They are a U.S.A. company, but they are not authentic Schrade. The Camillus-made and Imperial-made Schrades to me are basically in-family and worthwhile. YMMV.kootenay joe wrote:Your newer looking "Schrade-Walden" Slim Stockman is i believe, newer. Re: 8OT 1st year
Cal, thank you for confirming my ideas regarding these latter day "Schrade Walden" branded knives and for adding in the ones made by Bear & Sons.
My Schrade knowledge is reasonable but with lots of 'gaps' so i do appreciate someone more Schrade-knowledgeable such as yourself, confirming or correcting what i say about Schrade.
