Don't have any concrete info on the model name.Interesting model #(585)which is the Italian mark for 14 karat gold.The Osborne is likely Warren Osborne who was a custom knife maker some time back.Did you try contacting Benchmade ?

Thanks k7k. I have looked at the Benchmade site and online elsewhere but cannot find another example of this knife.
I bought it on ebay a few years ago and seller may have referred to it as a "Griptilian" but i see many different Benchmades all called "Grip---n" so i don't know what this word actually refers to.
I thought this would be easy to answer !

Recently purchased this Benchmade 665 from GP Knives in Troy IL. It's just east of St. Louis. If you are ever in the area it's a must see for a knife guy.

ps. I have absolutely nothing to do with GP Knives.

Torrent 890BK (CPM154)
Emissary 3.5 477-1 (S30V)
Volli 1000001BK (S30V)

The Torrent is in my pocket as I write this. No safety, liner lock. Smooth and elegant. The other 2 are AXIS lock, which is okay but they both have safeties, which I have mixed feelings about. I do like the Volli a lot though! Primarily because it is wide, easy to deply and the scales are 3D milled and have excellent grip. I'm having mixed feelings on the Emissary. It is a bit more difficult for me and my hands to deploy because it's body width is a little less.

Thanks garddogg! I'm really enjoying the Torrent and the Volli. Still trying to warm up to the Emissary 3.5 though.

Update: Been playing with the Emissary 3.5 since posting the above... I am warming up to it now. Getting more used to it's feel and action. It's got a really cool blade, albeit in S30V blade steel. I actually prefer CPM154, which is what the Torrent has.

Yessir! I agree. My Western S-532 folder was my constant companion for decades. I posted about it in the Western sub-forum. It was my first serious quality knife.

Of my 3 Benchmades, the Emissary is the narrowest and when I go to flick it open, I don't have the leverage I do with the Torrent and especially the Volli. The Volli fits me like a glove. Right out of the box, it was easy to use, so was the Torrent.

Benchmade 943 Osborne

I picked this up about a month ago, upgraded all the screws to "Titanium Blue"
Love the look, first photo is with the black factory screws, other photos are with the "Titanium Blue"

that really jazzes that Osborne up ::tu::Are those 5-20 screws and did you have to cut the stud down???
