Old Camillus Jack

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Old Camillus Jack

Post by JohnR »

Picked up this nice old Camillus Jack last week, straight line tang stamp on main and curved on pen, I think that dates it to 1915. Decent shape for its age, slight bone loss on mark side edge, blades almost full, great snap and no play.

Nice one John.
That appears to be the tang stamp that Goins' lists for 1915.
Personally I think it may have been used for more years than just 1915; I think they probably used that stamp for some years prior to 1915.
However, given the lack of records, it is almost impossible to figure when the stamps were used 100+ years later. ::shrug::

Thank you all, pretty happy to get this one, old Camillus Jack's don't seem too be that easy to find.

Dale, thanks for the dating information, makes sense that it would be used for more than one year, I went with what I could find published.

Carmillus, if I ever decide to move it I will let you know.
