I see it doesn't actually say "Made in U.S.A." it just says United States of America with no claim as to place of manufacture. silverladdie usually has good stuff

I think it is quite misleading, though I am sure he would argue that; "Schrade Walden United States Of America" is the name of the knife, with "Swell Center Trapper" being the pattern.

I once purchased a knife on eBay called "Rite Edge USA."
When I got the Chinese piece of junk in my hand I told the seller I was not happy because it was not a USA made knife.
He told me, "Rite Edge USA is the brand name, it has nothing to do with the country of origin."

I agree that it is misleading but I question who misleads the most. I think that Stewart A. Taylor and Sons is most culpable because they put misleading stamps and etches on their knives. The Schrade Walden stamp could lead anyone who is not really knowledgeable about knives to assume that the knife was made in Walden. Taylor may own the rights to the stamp but that does not really make their actions moral, in my opinion.

I feel exactly the same way about a Taylor knife I recently bought. I knew it was China made and I would be okay with that, but after looking at the stamps for a bit, I really hate seeing Schrade Walden on that knife.

I know I have said it before, but I think that if a company is unwilling to stamp the country of origin on a knife, then they do not deserve respect. I have a couple of A G Russell knives made in China, and they have China stamped on the blade right below his name. I respect Russell for being up front about it, and I disdain the makers of every other China knife that I own because they are not up front.

That is exactly how I feel.
It has not often happened and is not likely to in the future, but wouldn't it be additionally knice if all the contract cutlers got to add their mark to the tangs? (eg. Boker U.S.A. on a John Primble). Camillus, Bear & Son, Imperial, Ulster, Great Eastern & Utica ALL have made Schrade marked knives, both before and after the bankruptcy, depending on circumstances, and all are U.S. companies.
