Grips-N-Such

Post by Gunsmoke47 »

Had to show off a couple of new arrivals today. Put it here cuz my new GEC was an afterthought. I stole it from Ryan Daniels off Ebay! But another true prize is the way my old 1976 6" Nickle Colt Python looks after I put my new Pearl grips "from our own Duffy" on it! Hope yall enjoy. Thanks Duff! ::nod:: ::nod::

Two GREAT pieces! The Python has always been my favorite as the slickest wheelgun ever built.I owned(and foolishly let go)a blue 4" Python only because my good friend was kicking himself for selling it to me and made me an offer I couldn't refuse.Got a Mark 1 Detonics .45(one of the first 200 with the cut down 1911 frame and obvious weld beads)and $100 for it.

I also had a Colt Trooper(Model 28 w/4" barrel)at the same time and the difference in quality was like night and day.The Trooper was CRUDE compared to the Python.Couldn't believe how smooth the trigger pull was;even in D/A.

Still have the Detonics and it is worth as much or more than the Python but isn't half the gun.

Hey knife7knut, I agree about the Python. I own 2 of them . The Nickle and also a 6" blue that is my shooter. I own Colt's , Smith's, Walther's, and Rugar's. Nothing comes close to either Python on "fit and finish" or smooth action. Of coarse, you can't really compare the Walther to the other 3. (Apples to Apples sort of thing) Never owned a Detonics but it looks like a fine pistol. I guess I'm a revolver man as the Walther is the only pistol I have ever owned and just bought it a short time ago. I do know , however, that the 2006 Primitive bone shown is as good of knife as any I own. ::nod:: I know there is a lot of different opinions on GEC and that is how it should be I guess, but I own 18 of them now and have no complaints on any of them. Thanks for lookin, Smoke
