Located in central Texas, just outside of Austin and the temp on my patio is 64º and headed for 75º. A cold front is due in tonight so we'll have temps in the 20s for the next couple of nights. That is about as cold as it ever gets here, at least for the last several years. It snows about once every 10 years and without checking, it seems about that long since we had any.

North Texas, it was 73 degrees and sunny with light breeze from south at noon. About 12:30 wind shifted to north and temp dropped to 60 within 10 minutes. Now at 1:45 PM it's 50 with 25 mph north wind. Low tonight forecast for low 20s.

Ken

Edit: it's now 6:40 PM, thermometer on back porch says 30 degrees. Winds NNW 30 mph, gusts to 39 mph.
Edit: 9:30 PM, 24 degrees, wind 25 mph gusting to 39 mph
Edit: 7:00 AM Sunday, 12 degrees. Wind 21 mph gusts up to 30 mph. Over 60 degrees drop in less than 24 hrs! ::woot::

It's windy and snowy 18 degrees in tulsa, a lot of people are too scared to step outside the door from what I've seen today. Everyone round here is used to super humid heat all the time, snow is frightening

Phil I'm coming to church with you today! Wow!

Yesterday it was 65° with thunderstorms here in South Central Kentucky. We had thunder and lightening, the works. Then temps dropped about 40° in a hurry. It's 20 something degrees and faking right now. The roads are supposed to be icing up all day.

One of the churches in town had already called off services because of the ice. I haven't been outside to check our road yet.

They've canceled Bingo for today at the Belvidere VFW. (Linnea and her mother goes.) If they call off Bingo, you know it's some serious business.

Well it's oficial. No services this morning or tonight at Old Zion in Barren Co KY.

Our roads are icy and with hills and curves that ain't good. But the worst part was the parking lot. It was solid ice. I'm hearing that from other places too. The roads are passable if need me, but the parking lots are solid.

We're going to stay in today, watch NCIS, drink coffee, and eat chili.

it's almost 6 below zero here now. The dogs don't like their bathroom outside too much right now.

update: at 6:00am it's -11*F. Even though the dogs needed to go, they didn't want to go outside when the door was open. Had to push them out.

Chicago Dave, you'll have to head North to warm up today. It looks like we will all be having a warmer Christmas. My little blue Healer/Springer loves the snow and being outside but after about 5 minutes she's dancing on three feet and has had enough. ____Dave

Of course, I had to find out what the coldest, directly observed temperature on Earth ever recorded was...
July 21st, 1983 at the Soviet Vostok Antartica Station.... -128.6ºF ....Does wind chill even matter at this point?

In August 2010, a NASA Landsat satellite indirectly measured -135.8ºF off of a ridge in east Antarctica. By the way, which way is east from a planet pole? Relative to what? The prime meridian??

By the way, I used JerryD's tip of the day - Alt 167 for the big degree symbol.

The weather over Northern Mn. was beautiful today. It was about 30 degrees with full sunshine. Duluth was windy this afternoon but 40 degrees above the temps this time last week. ____Dave

Here in balmy central Texas it is 67º and headed for near or maybe even into the 80s! Disgustingly warm for a Christmas Eve but it's what we got! ::shrug::

Hanging a little over 30º today and a little under 30º tonight and then 40º tomorrow with some light rain. At least it's not supposed to freeze tomorrow night.
