Paua
I moved this over here because I really meant for it to be a part of this thread!
Here are a few I haven't posted. Two Pauas. Both made in 1998 (1st year for mini copperlocks). There were 250 of them made. Some say there were fewer with the small shield but I have no idea if that's true. I hope everyone had a very MERRY CHRISTMAS! I've been checking out some of the Christmas gifts and man ... lots of you are spoiled!

Pearl Premiers
Hi All . . . thought I'd revive the copperlock thread (since it IS my favorite thread). Here are a few pearl premiers. The two 1998's are mini copperlocks and the 1997 is a large copperlock. All first year productions, and, as you probably already know, there were only 100 of each Pearl Premier made (in each pattern).
The shields are mother of pearl. Later Pearl Premiers had abalone shields.
Any other copperlocks out there?

A few recent acquisitions
Well, it's up to me to keep the copperlock thread going . . .
Here are a couple cool mini copperlocks . . . These were both produced in 1998 (first year they were produced). The interesting thing about these two is that they both have the same case # . . . but different names.
One is called Smooth Lite Honey & the other is called Dark Mtn. Mist, but again, they have the same Case# . . . 2614.

Re: CASE Copperlocks
Here's an interesting large copperlock on ebay . . . I've never seen one.
http://cgi.ebay.com/CASE-XX-KNIFE-61549 ... dZViewItem
I looked it up on Stilger's list, and it's there, but he has it listed as a custom piece. I called Case and talked to Shirley (their historian) about it, and they didn't produce a celluloid copperlock in 1997. So, I'm surprised a custom piece woud go for as much as this one's up to.
Any guesses as to what it'll go for? I'm thinking around $100. I was going to bid on this one until I found out it wasn't made by Case.

parker's, smkw, frost, and shepherd hills produced many variations of that pattern in the late ninties. book from $60 - $150.

Re: CASE Copperlocks
when there's an SFO for a company like Frost or Shepherd Hills, the knives were still produced by Case. Isn't that right? For instance, many of the knives I have were SFOs for other companies (Frost, Shepherd Hills, SMKW, Parker) but they're still in Case's database. Also, they should appear on a production list somewhere. I have three separate production lists for copperlocks and a variety of price guides and none of them have this knife listed. The only place I've seen it listed is on Daryl Stilger's list here on AAPK ... he lists all the SFOs (such as "SFO for Parker") but he only lists this one as "custom." Where are you seeing this particular knife listed?

Re: CASE Copperlocks
that knife is a case. re-handled by an individual or an sfo. shirley once told me that a lot of knives were not documented, one-offs, etc. where did daryl get his info? i did find a lot of like style sfo copperlocks produced in that time frame, but not that particular handle material.

Re: CASE Copperlocks
Daryl got some of his information (I think) from one of the production lists I use regularly made by Tony Foster (revised in 2001). It matches somewhat. But Daryl's list is more comprehensive (includes later years). I also have a list of SFO's from Shepherd Hills, but they're almost all on the Tony Foster list as well.
I know the knife is a Case, but I do believe it was rehandled by an individual or I'd be able to find some documentation of it. Shirley said they didn't do any celluloid copperlocks in 1997.

Re: CASE Copperlocks
That is a Midnight Stag, made in 1997.
There were 1,000 of them made. They were an SFO for Shepherd Hills Cutlery.
There were 3 iterations that I know of:
1. front and back of blade etched
2. only front of blade etched
3. only front of blade etched but smaller
Often, Shepherd Hills made 100 of their SFO's with serial numbers. Apparently they did that with the Midnight Stags as well.
There was also a mini Midnight Stag made in 1998. There were 700 made. Also, there was a torched Midnight Stag made, and I believe there were 300 of them made . . . so, there were 1,000 total mini Midnight Stags. I do not know if Shepherd Hills had 100 of these minis with serial numbers or not.

Re: CASE Copperlocks
Here are a few new copperlocks I picked up . . . after reading a few posts on Case Selects, and looking at what knives they produced, I thought, "I wonder how many Select copperlocks are out there?" So far, there are a total of 7, and I've picked up 5. The rest of my collection is made up of only 1st year copperlocks, but I just couldn't help myself when I saw these.
And I finally picked up the pitch black worked copperlock . . . Charlie has one I've been eyeing for a while. It's safe now, Charlie.
I'm still missing the Tortoise Celluloid Copperlock w/ worked backspring & blade . . . that was made with the 2002-2003 third release of Select knives. And I'm also missing the Jigged Tested Red Bone Pocket Worn Copperlock that was made with the 1998-2000 first release.

Hey Chris,
Yes, they came from the factory that way . . .
And no, I don't work for the A&E network. My wife's name is Amity & mine is Eric . . . hence, A&E.

Re: CASE Copperlocks
They are very nice. Fit & finish is nice. Case puts more effort into the Select line than they do their other knives. They use the best handle materials and nickel pins and liners (instead of brass). They also limit the # of each made. It's usually somewhere between 500 & 1,500 pieces.
They are more expensive than the regular Case line.

Re: CASE Copperlocks
I never get tired of my copperlocks, and I've already posted some pictures of these, but I got a new camera for my b-day, and I thought I'd try it out ... here are the results of a little playing around tonight. I took these on a white piece (obviously) of printer paper under some weird curly bulb fluorescent lighting. No flash, 80 ISO, camera on table for stability (as the shutter speed was dang slow .... I think .5 of a second). Enjoy!

Re: CASE Copperlocks
I have never handled a Copperlock but drooling over this thread really makes me wonder if that is a viable situation...
But I now very little about this pattern. Would any of you lucky Copperlock guys take the time to educate me a little?
How old is this pattern? Probably not a very old one. 10-15 years? I'm pretty sure it was introduced by Case, but are there other makers also now?
And what about sizes? Regular Copperlocks (41/4"?) and then minis..?
Thank you!
I keep hearing strange sounds now... Something like the sound of a pocket begging for a new kind of knife to carry... Is this normal..?

Re: CASE Copperlocks
This pattern was first "thought up" in 1997. It was created as a combination of the copperhead and trapper (check out the evolution set earlier in the thread). Mini copperlocks were first produced in 1998. I don't think anyone else makes a "copperlock," although I'm not sure of that.

Do you (or anyone else) happen to now when the Copperhead (without the lock) was introduced?
I read in another post that Case will be introducing a TrapperLock this year.

Re: CASE Copperlocks
Just looking around a bit on ebay, and I've never seen a copperlock go for this much . . .
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 3DWatching
I didn't realize they made a silver script in 1998. Don't see it on my production lists or on Daryl Stilger's list, which is fairly comprehensive for the earlier copperlocks. Pretty cool. Christmas is just around the corner if anyone's thinking of buying me something.
Sorry Froggy, don't know when copperheads were first manufactured.

Re: CASE Copperlocks
Hi Everyone. I haven't posted for while in here or anywhere else. Life's just too busy lately.
But I've put together a website with my collection in it (well, with my copperlocks) and I thought some might want to see it. Most of the copperlocks are first year copperlocks, except a few of the Case Selects. I hope to get all the 1997 large copperlocks and all the 1998 minis that were produced (except for the club knives, which I'm not too interested in).
http://amityeric.net/album/index.html
If anyone can help me find the ones I don't have that would be appreciated.
