Solingen, Germany made and I think this is a brand from the same folks that make the Eye brand knives. At 10 bucks you did fine. Welcome to AAPK! Its a well made knife by the way, not a throw away. It's called a pruning knife.

Welcome to AAPK. For $10 you did very well. I would guess the minimum value would be about $30 and could be double that. It appears to have advertising on the side of the handle which could increase it's value and interest.___Dave

I think the eye brand knives were called El Gallo and the Rooster doesn't look the same. Definitely looks german though. I don't have my reference books with me so I can't comment any Further.

El Gallo is a line of cutlery from Carl Schlieper of Eye Brand. It is a name trademarked by Forest Cruse of Austin, Tx way back in about 1958 if memory serves. He was the sole distributor of Schlieper cutlery in the USA.
It is my favorite of the Schlieper brands and I carry one almost every day. Same outstanding carbon steel as Eye Brand knives but less polish and usually, but not always, the El Gallos have no shield. I believe that was to hold the cost and price down.
