I want to say it is an older knife. That's a metal pivot on the lock bar and it wasn't ground down enough. There is a giant hump on both sides, which stick up ~3-4mm and was just polished over. you can really feel it when you hold the knife. The blade is super dull too and a quarter way down the blade the edge is bent over. This knife has certainly seen some s....

"Cherokee" is a low end import brand from 10 or so years ago. Made in Pakistan ? or China ?
When you see "Solingen Steel" you know the knife is not from Germany.

Just saw the knife you found and it looked very familiar. Here's a picture of one, looks pretty much the same, it's has Cherokee on the mark side tang. Handle pins seem to be same, the wooden handles a lighter color. I've already gotten rid of the Cherokee and the Puma in the picture so I can't say much about it other than it seemed to be a well made knife, a typical lock back. Not a real prize but it would surly do the job if sharpened. My brother-in-law had to have the Puma and he said I'll take the Cherokee too. Have no idea what he intends to trade. The Case Bros. that's missing the sheild was the object of those knives.

Being listed in Goins simply means that somewhere along the way prior to publishing his book, he actually saw a knife with that mark and recorded it. As he did not publish any other information, i.e., country of origin, manufacturer, inclusive or estimated dates, etc, means he had no such information.

It's a copy of a Buck 110 and there are tons of those out there, some by reputable manufacturers, others by some entity just trying to cash in on the popularity of the style.

In 1968, a Buck 110 was $16.00 in an Army PX. I have no idea what the retail price might have been. Almost anyone that could produce a copy and sell it for less did so.
