A.G. Russell store

I'm going to be in Arkansas on a business trip all next week and was thinking about stopping in to the A.G. Russell store (factory?) in Rogers, AR. Has anyone ever been there? Is it worth the visit? Is it just new knives or are there assortments of antiques/vintage knives on display or for sale?

Every knife or other item (e.g. vests) that i have received from AGR is first rate. I am sure his store is first rate as well. I would go regardless of what anyone might say. The only risk is that you will spend more than you intended to.

It will be the only opportunity as the rest of the week are crammed full of training classes.

If you plan to spend $0 it's almost a certainty you will spend more than you intended.

well I planned to spend zero but ended up paying 20 x what I planed to spend. For all you math gurus that would be zero. However I started my basis point out at $1 so spent $20. So much more I wanted to spend but on a business trip and have to be somewhat thrifty. Budget limited m eto an overseas brad. However I have to say it's not too bad. Here are pictures of the store. I'll post a pick of the knife I chose shortly.

That last one is in case ya'll want to come out to Arkansas because I guess that's what's in store for me.

Here is knife I picked up. Let me tell you it was real tough to buy & carry a Chinese manufactured knife. However I couldn't bring my EDC on the plane as I carried on and felt nekid without one in my pocket. Bought this one and so far don't hate it. It's got a pretty good fit and finish. No blade wobble. Sharpewr than just about any other knife I've carried and has a nice patina already on the blade.

Overall wasn't real impressed with the whole store. Was hoping that Mr. Russel had a display of older antiques but mostly new stuff and knives he is tryin got sell. There are some Case, Boker, Queen, S&M, per 70 Hen & Rooseter and a few other decent brands. Asked if I could tour the manufacturing floor but that was a quick no.

So - the rest of the story

Had been on an airplane most of the day before the visit to AG's store. Only cookies for breakfast & lunch.

Bought the knife - went back to the room and took the pictures.

Had work to catch up on and really had not eaten much but had a couple beers from the hotel bar.

Got really hungry about 11 at night so ordered a patty melt to be delivered in the room.

They gave me some ketchup & mustard in those small glass bottles with a plastic seal around the top.

How did I open the plastic seal?

How long did it take for me to stop bleeding out?

I think you can fill in the blanks. Thought for sure I needed to go to hospital but luckily finally stopped bleeding after about half an hour.

Doesn't look it but it's deep. Weird thing is it didn't hurt much. I suspect because it is so darn sharp.

I dis read somewhere that "Cattleman's Cutlery" a quite decent knives. It might be a brand made for AGR ?
I have cut myself trying to open rigid plastic packaging. At least you did prove to yourself that the blade has a sharp edge.

Speaking of AGR, do they actually manufacture anything?
I see that is a big building, but I wonder if they just run the import and shipping business from there.

Supposedly they assemble some of the fixed blades there. They buy the blade blanks, grind, install the handles, & finish.

No blade forging going on at all.

I asked for a tour but they don't give one.
