Nice looking knife. In 1942  they were 22-24 dollars a dozen. Worth considerably more now, of course !! You might check completed auction values for this knife in similar condition.

What auction site might you suggest?

Any auction site. Ebay might have a few. It might also help to search for Schrade (the manufacturer). These aren't exact matches but this Schrade branded press button is currently available on AAPK: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... locks-work And this one was previously sold on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/381984411413

Your knife is really nice. If it works as it should I think it's worth every bit of $200. Likely more, 200 is a safe guess as I don't know it's full value.

I was thinking it may be worth somewhere in range. I have sold some pretty sad looking automatics on ebay before I got shutdown for selling one, didn't know it was a no no. Have not tried since.

Just curious. Did Schrade make these for Shapleigh? I know they made knives for other companies.

They very likely did. Schrade also made switchblades for case and remington, if im not mistaken.

Yes sir. That's why I put manufacturer in parentheses after Schrade. Schrade made a lot of knives for Shapleigh.
