Unknown knife Made in USA. Database # 788

"This is an unknown brand pocket knife that features a 2 5/16"" on one side and a 2 1/4"" knife on the other
side. The knife tangs are engraved on opposing sides on separate lines that looked like an ending of a word
?ASTER or ?ISTER, a beginning of the word UTB or UTR and the ending of the word Y and a phrase MADE
IN USA. The knives have worn off chrome and rust which makes it extremely difficult to make out letters
even under a light and magnifying glass. The handles have cracked and come apart.
I have the following questions about this knife:
Who made it?
What is the knife model number?
How much is the knife worth?
How do I reglue the handle piece back onto the handle?
Is the handle wood or bone?

Looks like a Muskrat pattern made by Utica Cutlery, Utica NY - under the KUTMASTER brand. Bone handles, worn smooth from use and carry.

A knife in such bad condition is all but worthless. There are many such knives 'out there' and a great many more vintage knives in better condition. Hence there is no 'demand' or desire for the wrecks.

Robert knife collectors look for the most pristine examples of a knife as it came from the factory. The more use and or damage that a knife has seen generally sets it's value. From mint to slightly used can be a huge gap dollar wise.

What are you trying to do with the knife, repair it so you can use it or sell it?
If the blades have good snap and you have an emotional attachment, because it belonged to someone you admired, then you might be able to glue the handles together enough to make it usable.
If you’re trying to fix it to sell it, I can tell you right now the postage alone will probably be more than the knife is worth.
