C.M McClung Pocket Knife?

Post by Bobby234 »

Hi everyone, I inherited a couple pocket knives from my grandfather. One is a C.M. McClung 2 blade, wooden handle. I don't know much about it, but cant find any other knives like it. Can you please help? Thanks for your time.

Hi, thanks for the response. It is marked Knoxville Tenn. What do you think it's worth? My grandfather had a big collection of old knives, he was born in 1926. Some knives I believe were my great-grandfathers. Thanks.

If I had those family heirlooms there would be no price that could pry them away. The knife shown has minimal collector value due to its well used condition but as a memento of those who have gone before, it's priceless.

It's a neat old Swayback knife, which is a pattern not often seen. And McClung is a rare marking. However your knife has a rather low monetary value because of condition: both blades show considerable loss. Condition is most important for a knife to have much value.
I would pay about $40 max for this knife because i like the swayback pattern. This price might say more about me than the knife. Maybe others will comment on this.
