Ever See a Custom Folder by Gable? SABLE, Acutally

Post by Paladin »

I ran across this folder recently and just discovered a maker's name which is almost hidden in the damascus. It is a little hard to read but I have convinced myself that the name is GABLE or maybe SABLE. I'll post some photos.
I have checked my resources and find nothing on a maker by either of these names.
I would appreciate any info any of you might have on this maker or this knife.

Ray

EDIT: In looking at the photos, it seems clear that the name is SABLE. and I found their site. It is Sable Custom Knives.

I thought it was brass but it hasn't tarnished even a little bit. Not really sure that brass is that malleable.

Might bolsters be gold ? along with gold pins ?
Are there regulations that gold must be marked: 10K, 18K, etc. ? or can gold be used to make an item but not be marked as gold ?

Send them an email to [email protected]

Attach pictures of the knife and ask them for information about it. Since they use exotic materials that white band could be ivory.

The spacer looks like bone. Best guess is that the knife is shop made overseas.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Although the Sable company says "based in Texas", it sure appears like a import knife to me. The Damascus doesn't appear to be welded very good. Just my opinion and the bolster I'm sure is brass with bone spacer. ::tu:: Terry

Sam,
I got it in a collection I bought from an estate, so the price is impossible to determine. I only know what I paid for the batch of knives and some other stuff.
I have an email in to the 'makers' and hopefully will have more info soon.
