SCCO Fixed Blade Knife - Rare?

I stumbled onto this SCCO fixed blade knife at a very reasonable price. I love the jigged bone scales. The sheath not so much. The blade is 4" long and the knife's OAL, according to the seller, is 7 & 13/16". Apparently, it was floating around up for bid for nearly two months. I spotted it for the first time with 14 hours left the night before, and with under two hours left a bid came in and I thought to myself "oh no".


In an in house search I found this by Cal (tongueriver) describing his SCCO fixed blade knife:
"Here is one that is a little unusual. Schrade Cut.Co. never made fixed blade knives. None. In nine years I have seen three with SCCO tang-stamps. The first two were identified by a respected researcher of Schrades as being made for them by Kinfolks. The third one is this one. I don't know who made it. The sheath was missing; that might have helped. Hammered pins and brass guard. Nice bone, with one chip at the butt. Probably marketed to boys, it is just shy of eight inches overall." This info helped me decide to go for it. Thanks, Cal.

The photos are from eBay. The knife is currently making its way down to the happy owner. Any info like manufacturing period or leads to a sheath would be appreciated. Thanks for looking!

So, Is that Schrade or Southington?

Not sure I've ever seen a Southington straight knife.

I'm wondering if the blade has not been broken and re-profiled. If so, it was done very well and a long time ago.

Based on what Cal mentioned and as advertised by the seller, it's a rare Schrade Cut Co made by Kinfolks for Schrade 1905 - I946. As for the blade possibly being reprofiled, it's not. Cal's knife is the same model and the blade looks the same. Photos of his are posted on another thread: viewtopic.php?f=64&t=16048&p=542057&hil ... ed#p542057

I can't say whether or not mine is legit. I have had it for a few years the stamp is very weak and also a different blade profile.

I would say it is but I'm no expert. The stamp looks the same and so do the scales and pins - they appear to be hammered as well. The spine of your blade does have a slight slope to it and the guard is not brass but still looks authentic and aged appropriately. What are the measurements on the blade and OAL? Thanks

Both of these are great looking knives.

Looks like it measures 8" or over. Can't say for sure. It might have been made by Kinfolks for Schrade Cut Co as well. I don't know but according to Cal, Schrade Cut Co never made fixed blade knives.
