My Case knowledge is very limited but over the last few days there was a discussion about the legitimacy of a very similar knife and the consensus of opinion was that it was genuine. I believe this opinion applies to your knife as well. So yes, I think it's real. It doesn't look like it's been messed with and it has a genuine 1940-1965 tang stamp.

I'm not an expert on Case knives either, but sure appears to be a real Case knife, and like Jerry said 40's vintage stamp. And a nice unaltered condition knife.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
