Hi fellow knife enthusiasts (wanted to say freaks as that is what I'm called, probably not PC) Just started to collect knives but have had an extreme interest for all my life. To say I have more than I can use would be an understatement. Love working with exotic materials such as Ivory and wood. In my post I show a picture of one of my knives and wish to give credit to Jim Downing for the engraving. He is a terrific artisan, great talent, reasonably priced and quick to return your work. The work shown only cost me $50 and was returned in 2 weeks. Thx for the welcome!
Attached is a photo of mastodon ivory, birdseye maple and walnut burl. Fixed blades were made from bar stock.

Looks great - is that folder an auto? or does it have a Boker style lock?

Steel on the fish cleaner is D2 @ 62 on the C scale. Almost too hard but holds a great edge.

Answer to folder; bought the kit from Texas Knifemaker Supply and added the mammoth ivory. It is not an auto so I guess it is Boker, press the button and it can be "flung" open. Can't say enough about Texas Knifemaker Supply, great people.
Carry this one every day and love it. VERY good knife! Gets a lot of attention from "freaks" like me. A lot of people get the wrong impression when yuou mention "kits". These things take a heck of a lot of time and skill to make a good product. Granted, some are just "put together projects" but this one took all my limited skills to get the ivory just right. The screw holes must be perfect in location and depth. Polish and fit are a true challenge.
