Opinions about repairing these Pressbutton Co knives

I am not a major automatic knife collector, but I got these three in recently and really like them. Two are marked "Press Button Knife Co Walden NY" and another is marked "Walden Knife Co, NY." Two have very nice handles, but one of those doesn't spring open at all, and the other won't stay closed. Both have more wobble than a weeble! The middle knife has bad handles, but it does switch open and stay closed. (Again, lots of wobble). Just looking for opinions--would you try to make two good knives out of the three, or try to have all three repaired? These are rather large, measuring 4 and 7/8 inches closed. As I am new to the automatics, any opinions or advice is appreciated!

Chevy those command a pretty good price when working, it might be worthwhile to get a couple of repair estimates.

They can be repaired to work but may be cost prohibitive ( from a retail point of view) in this condition . I will say that one stamped without the "press button" name is an early model and could date before the turn of the century.

Thanks guys! I am into these three for less than 100 bucks (for all three together). I just have no idea what a retail value would be. Does anyone have a ballpark idea what each of the knives might be worth if repaired? That way, I could determine if the cost of repairs added to the initial 30 bucks investment would put me upside down in value. Thanks again!

I had a press button knife a while ago and sold it for $35, but it needed work also. It did have good bone handles but no spring tension at all. I never checked on getting it fixed, just assumed it would cost more than it was worth, but don't know for sure. I think they are pretty collectable if in working order (maybe around $100?). Let us know how much it would cost to repair, thanks, Terry

I would consider your knives somewhat valuable......I was looking in levine's guide 3RD edition on page 199 and I believe those to be your knives.....the ones in my book bare an etch though that reads Invincible on their blades and as far as the pinning and type bone and button location and pattern shape they are identical to yours in these pictures....there is another smaller version right next the these with the etch saying Business ~ I would say they are worth repairing ~ nice set a collectible knives you have here......we haven't been able to collect here in California since 1958 " Newly Known Information" I've acquired ~ In my levine book it reads at top of page.....I wouldn't recommend collecting Switchblades, but many people still do for the simple fact of their Illegality making them even more sought after, but "Whatever you do do not Mail them anywhere where it is Illegal" ~ Check your States ~ Better Safe than Sorry ~

Great advice Mountain Man. I have found a reputable repairman and the knives are safely in his hands. It looks like we may be looking at repairing the two best knives out of the three. Can't wait to get them back! I will post pics when I do.

Sending them through the mail is done all the time. As long as the package doesn't smell like wacky tobacky they will get to where they ate sent
