Barnett Knife Pliers

More of a question here than a counterfeit knife. I have seen several of the Barnett knives with pliers that I believe were made in NJ. Are they the only company that made the same knife? Here is one with a Boker blade and at the Central KY show a dealer had one with a Boker blade as well and told me it was a contract knife that Barnett had Boker make. True or not?

The knife is a parts knife. They never had a clip point. They were never marked Boker. And they never had blades made 40+ years after the rest of the knife. There are all sorts of stories floating around to try to legitimize the parts knives.

I'm no expert on these so won't comment except to say I looked at one of these at a flea market dealer's table that was marked Valley Forge, which is a marking associated with Boker USA (Boker bought out VF). The asking price was in the same range as the OP knife but the guy said "make me an offer." Not knowing much about these, I just told him it was an interesting knife and moved on.

Fakers (and liers in general) like to take a truth and twist it. As I said previously, Barnett Plier knives were never marked Boker.

On the other hand, a completely different knife--->Valley Forge Plier Knives were sometimes stamped Boker.

Two different knives made by two different manufacturers. They don't look anything alike. On the Valley Forge Plier Knife, the pliers fold into the handle like the pliers on a Swiss army knife.

There was a guy at a flea market recently who tried to convince me that a Schrade Walden hawkbill with an "X" through the tang meant it was a special knife for export to Germany. Even after telling him I knew it wasn't, he kept on. Being the show was in Central KY, and I'm in SW Va, wonder if it was the same guy? I don't recall seeing a Barnett Plier Knife in his stuff.

The Barnett Plier Knife was made from the 1890s-1920s, and that looks like a '60s-'80s Boker Jack or Stockman blade in the knife. =

I wonder if this isn't the same dealer who was at the Central KY show offering this same knife on ebay? I questioned him about the authenticity of his knife and he assured me he had researched the subject and was certain Boker had made a contract knife for Barnett. I thought it was a lot of BS, but didn't harp on the issue and walked on. He will never be convinced his knife is a sham. Pity the poor buyer, especially at this price level.

I have a Barnett pliers knife that I was getting ready to put on eBay. It has a "crucible " main blade in it. So I asked a friend I trust here on aapk and he told me "replaced blade" so it goes into the "don't buy knives you don't know anything about" pile.
